Holmes Mecha Review by Sean Laverty

The Holmes is a 35 ton workhorse for the lower level player. It costs a very reasonable 1575 ferrite, 1050 bioptics and 70 crystal. A sturdy, laser based mecha, it comes armed with 4 Cornerian Ion laser weapons. While this isn't an overwhelming amount of firepower, by the time you have upgraded the mecha to the level at which you are allowed to purchase it (16) you will have 6 weapon slots to work with, as well as 2 chassis slots, a cockpit slot and the engine slot.

As usual, most pilots (myself included) strip out the stock weapons load and replace it with the strongest lasers they have been able to buy/win. It is an excellent performer for the 16-30 level player, that you can't have too many of, early in the game!

The Holmes is based off of the Red Ant/ Shocklite frame, but carries almost double the armor. This makes it quite tough for a 35 tonner.  There are also quite a few more options in equipment for the Holmes than its lighter relatives. Enough so that this mecha is worth keeping in your stable for quite a while, especially for KOTM events.

Over all, this is a mecha that any early level player will find success with. In my opinion, this is one frame that certainly delivers a great bang for its buck, and is worthy of any early players line up!!!
