Exile's Song News

This is Jack "Easy Rider" Smith reporting live again from Clan Exile's Song training facility. I'm here with Randy Taylor, leader of Clan Song. "So Randy, what makes your training so special? Well Jack, we hand pick each recruit and believe me, not everyone has what it takes to be a Mech pilot." All of a sudden, a red light turns on and starts flashing all over the school as sirens go off. Suddenly, over the loud speakers a gruff voice says "All senior cadets to their Mechs! This is NOT a drill! All others to the bunkers!" Randy turns to the junior cadet next to him and says "Take these people to the bunker cadet ... NOW!!!" Randy then runs off down the hall. The cadet, with a shaky voice says "This way, quick!" "I don't think so son." I turn to my crew. "Let's get outside and see what's going on." As we exit the outer doors, we can see all around and it appears we're on top of the facility on a lookout platform. It's a beautiful view - A mixture of rolling hills with wide open spaces and a forested area.

The sun is just rising over the hills. Just then, a voice on the loud speaking says, "Give up your Mechs and walk away kids and you'll live to see another day. You're outnumbered and outclassed as you can see. All we want is your gear and your Mechs. Don't try to be heroes or you'll force us to kill you all." I turn to my camera man. "Are you getting this???" He replies, "Rolling boss!" "Wow... this is Jack "Easy Rider" Smith. It seems an unknown group, a mix of light and medium class Mechs are literally attempting to rob the school! Hey! ... there are the school's Mechs moving into position. Oh my GOD ... they have maybe 10 Red Ants! This is going to be a slaughter! It doesn't look like they're going to surrender. My GOD! They're just kids. Anyone out there who can hear this PLEASE ... You need to come and help. You have 10 minutes to leave with your lives!" You can cut the tension with a knife. It's about 8 minutes in, then all of sudden the silence is broken with a voice that booms, "To the Pirates with no class attacking a school of young cadets ... This school is under my protection. Leave NOW or I claim your destroyed Mechs as salvage." Jack looks around. "Where is that coming from? It's not coming from the school's Mechs." The young cadet pipes up, "No way!!! It's Woodman! He did it! He got it finished!" "Who's Woodman and WHAT got finished?" Jack asked. The cadet explains, "He's my friend - He lives on the street ... Ran away from the orphanage where we grew up. I give him food and he helps me after hours here at the school in the shop, but don't tell the commander ... I don't want to get expelled." I asked what he finished an the cadet responded, "Woodman has been telling us for years that he had a secret shop with an old Hoplite that he's been working on."

All of a sudden there's a loud WHOOSH and a puff of smoke appears from the woods. Seconds later one of the Pirate Mechs on the far hill explodes and bursts into pieces. With that, the field erupts and the battle begins. An unrecognizable Hoplite bursts forth from the forest, guns blazing. "My GOD ... Look at that thing GO!" Jack yells. Shortly after, another Pirate Mech explodes. The Ants move in and support the Hoplite. Just as quickly as the battle started, it ended in a matter of what seemed like minutes. In reality, a half hour had passed Only two Pirates managed to escape by retreating. When the smoke cleared, only seven Red Ants were still standing in one piece and, the most unique Hoplite. "Hey man! ... Zoom in over there. It's the commander and Woodman shaking hands if I'm right. I think "Song" has just recruited a new member. WOW! What a morning! This is a young pilot who is going places. On another note, let's have a moment of silence for the three brave young men who died defending their friends and school. This is Jack "Easy Rider" Smith signing off until another day. Good luck, and God willing."

In Woodman's first official appearance he won Gold in "Front Line Fight", his first medal ever. What a start to a glorious career.
