Mecha Review: The Nerio

Consolidated Mecha (ConMech for short)'s hallmark entry into the Mech market, this is another case of a little guy who packs a punch.

As far as light mecha go, the Nerio does suffer from the problem commonly shared by the majority of their weight class division mecha (10-25 tons). They tend to lack a major customization slot set, either chassis or engine options... in the Nerio's case you're stuck with the factory built chassis.  Another disadvantage is the cost. This little guy is a premium mecha that will set you back 50 Niodes you could otherwise have spent on some weapons or a decent piece of equipment. Don't despair though, those are the downsides, but the Nerio has plenty of positive attributes too which I'll go over now.

Rare for a mecha of its low weight class the Nerio boasts two weapon damage bonus modifiers for both missile and projectile types.  It's speedy and has the space to hold a number of shields and two engines as you upgrade it.  With experience, you'll unlock built in precision bonuses and increased triple damage ability as you level up your Nerio.  At present I've only got mine up to level 12 so I'll have to personally get back to you later on what a high level Nerio handles like (as I recently spent most of my Niodes trying to renovate a used Frigis), but this is a mecha I would advise people to seriously consider going back to and getting one of when they are in the upper levels specifically for use in lower tonnage KoTM events which are where the Nerio really shines.  I've heard that at higher levels a Nerio gets a medley of other abilities (4% crit-kill, speed bonuses and more triple damage bonus), unlocks even more projectile damage (+20%) and gains much higher precision bonuses.

The Nerio mecha costs you 500 Ferrite, 300 Bioptics and 50 Niodes and has two other major jobs it can be used for besides combat applications.

1.) You can take advantage of its speed and carrying capacity to use a Nerio for doing a range of crop dusting pest control tasks in the agriculture industry.

2.) By swapping out the Nerio's handheld modular autogun for a paired hydrator + metamorphic (heat & pressure) machine you can engage it in crystal farming.  Here's a quote about that from a well known grower and rancher named J'onn Deere:  "The Nerio is fairly popular on most primarily agricultural worlds.  The autogun is handy for fending off would be cattle rustlers and after a good day's work you can enter it in AgMecha Pulls (an event descendent of Old Earth's tractor pulls) for fun as a way to test its strong engines.  Some folks still prefer their old AlphaCorp Model B s they're used to, they grew up on or their parents and grandparents had but I swear by my Nerio.  It's a top of the line multipurpose light mecha that is great for protecting my herds (thanks to the projectile weapon damage bonuses) and its high precision makes dealing with pests that like to eat my crops a snap.
