Azazel Fantasy Mecha By Nathan Justin Weiser #817890

For time immemorial, man has had the technology that has allowed us to pilot mechs. Long ago we used mechs for work that was to dangerous or difficult for human. We lived in peace, using our mechs to guide us to a future of prosperity. This civilization is often called the forerunners. People suggest the technology they had built was left by them as they left off into distant space, but that is not the fact of the matter. The truth as I have found in my research is that we are the children of that lost civilization. A civilization nearly wiped out by a great change in our society, one that was enacted upon us by the demon mech Azazel.

There are no sources that say where it came from, simply that it appeared on day on the edge of a great lords kingdom. The shadowy pilot spoke to the man and corrupted his thoughts, turning him from a desire of prosperity to a desire of conquest. As he came to understand, prosperity could not be furthered as easily through hard work as it could from simply taking from others. The pilot showed the ruler how Azazel had been outfitted for producing great amounts of power. This power could be transferred into many of the applications that most mechs currently used, but towards darker more destructive ends. It began with lasers that were once used to cut steel for construction that could now be used to bore a hole through great walls. Next, cooling systems were strengthened to such a degree that fields could be snapped into a wintry landscape in mere seconds. Heating systems followed, the forges that were once used for shaping metal now could melt it in an instant. Soon, new systems were devised under the dark and cunning advisement of the evil pilot. Those were first the projectile systems and then the missile systems.

That was the beginning of the end for the forerunner society. Instead of man working hand in hand with each other, they began turning their hands against each other devising ever greater and greater destructive devices. Man turned away from their scientific pursuits and focused on only war. Research could be continued tomorrow, but as the wars raged, the population dwindled. After a long enough time, very few remained. As it will in times of survival, a desperation lead man to work again hand in hand but never at anything beyond a tenuous peace. Satisfied with the chaos it had wrought, the Azazel and its dark pilot slunk off into the Æther.

However, texts have been found that date back very early, nearly to the time of it's first appearance that cataloged as much of the features of the mech as it could. Some abilities may still be missing or just lost to time, but what we know of the mech could be found in the following:

Beyond that, the information runs dry. The stories of the power of this mech, however, suggest that it could do a great deal beyond what is described. Some say it appeared to phase in and out of existence, transport from one location to another, and even change the physical form that it took. It is unknown if that technology was ever accessible to the Forerunners, but the stories live on in ancient tombs. All I can say for sure is that we should hope that the day will not arrive when we will once again have to gaze upon the Azazel and the armies of the damned.
