Nerio: The Mech Time Forgot by Nathan Justin Weiser #817890

Let's be honest with ourselves here folks. No one has ever seen or heard a Nerio fire a single shot. Is that because they are extremely elusive mechs? It must be their incredible dodge that keeps us from seeing them. Let's see here... Uhhh well no, it appears that these mechs are incapable of applying any chassis equipment and come with no natural dodge to speak of. In that case, I can only imagine that it is speed. That's right, they must sense when someone is looking their way and they burst out of sight! Oh uhh... only 2 engines even at full strength. It does get some speed built in, but that's nothing out of the ordinary for a light mech. Huh...

Well, perhaps they are ridiculously expensive and only the super elite could possibly afford one? What's that? Oh, the cost is only fifty niodes and a handful of ferrite and bioptics? Well, that can't be it then. They must just be extremely rare then? Ahh, the mech manual seems to say that they have had a number of production runs and have often been used in military campaigns.

Enough joking, the real poop on this mech is that it just simply is not commonly used. It's not often seen as a prize in clan wars, instead you will often find the Trooper, Dread, or Keradon. I think the reasoning for this is it's low tonnage and the fact that the cheaper Axebot is often seen as the superior killing machine. Without sacrificing some precision for a UV Dome for only 16 dodge possible, you will get hit by the opponent. No questions asked, and unless you can somehow outrun the Axebot, you simply will not prevail in low tonnages.

I think it suffers from a similar issue as the Dread, in that it is over fitted with cockpits. While accuracy is important, in low tonnages, this much accuracy is just ridiculous. Hypothetically, it would be a better match against higher tonnage mechs in that it could use freezing weapons to stop its opponent in its track and use it's speed from being a light mech to keep popping them and freezing them deeper and deeper into a cube of ice. The precision comes in handy with the often much more dodgy mechs. But on the other hand, the highest its precision can reach, even at top end, is 63. By the time you reach that level, you will be getting one shot killed, and you still wouldn't be able to hit those high level mechs with incredible dodge and engines galore.

All in all, unless the Nerio sees some heavy revamping it will always play second fiddle to all other Niode light mechs. As it stands, the only thing I can see using a Nerio for is a doorstop or a paperweight. Do not put this on a battlefield unless you want to lose.
