How To Train Your Gigus Part II

"Good to see the both of you again, Myco, Rex, I hope your journey was a fruitful one?
Giga Rex addresses Tc: "I still don't like him much, but his drive is... admirable."
"The drive, driver and the driven should be considered as one, since they are all equally necessary to complete any journey, so your admiration is in place".

Rex looks surprising at first, but seems content with the fact that he is part of a greater entity.
Myco: "We found something weird when we were on Rizpah Sensei... after some scavenger natives tried to cannibalize Giga for parts, we fought them off and chased them deeper and deeper into the jungle, eventually we got lost and wound up camping in a cave." Myco thinks for a moment. "You, knew about the carvings on the Rizpah cave walls, didn't you? I bet that's why you told us to go there."

"Knowing is not the right word, since I've only heard stories about them. Stories from long forgotten books. It seems that you have made an important archeological discovery here."
"Well yes Sensei, the oldest ones showed just beast mecha and it looked like newer ones had been added further in the cave.  It rained so hard we had plenty of opportunity to explore the cavern system pretty thoroughly."

"Those caves are home to dark creatures, you must have combined all your skills and cunning to wander so deep and return alive."

"Even that was almost not enough to survive. A few were poisonous.  Which taught me another important thing about the Gigus.  They can help the pilot to shelter and regenerate from injury while inside, right? Don't get me wrong, it's painful in one but I don't think I would have lasted all the insect bites and animal stings if I hadn't rested inside Giga Rex now and then."

"I can see both of you have quite been stung and scratched, did you manage to get any images from your discoveries?"

"We did."

Depictions of Giguses and Skriags prior to the Forerunners cyberneticizing them, showing ancient man's arrival via a Forerunner vessel crash and their first encounter with the beast mecha, which were followed by subsequent drawings of people riding in and in some cases on them hunting horrific looking monsters greeted Myco and Giga during those intensely rainy days which followed where they were stuck in the cave.  After the mud and quicksand dried as the rain died down, there was enough solid ground to walk around again.  Some of the near constant downpour from the past few days though had washed up a set of cleanly picked human bones and what may have been the rusted remains of an ancient Gigus in a clearing near the cave entrance though. A fact which they both had reflected on as they hunted for food.

Giga Rex: "We don't need you humans but the caves showed we have worked together a long time."  He spits out the skull to an Alpha Snavurm and presents it to Tc.  "Manners better than Myco."

"A souvenir, well thank you Rex, its been a while since I got one from this far"

An Alpha Snavurm has well developed canine fangs and develops a horn on the middle of its head. Ignoring the jab made by his Gigus Myco directly addresses his clan leader "Between the scavenger natives and wild packs of Snavurm there was plenty of training opportunity for me and Giga, Sensei.  I did not however, know Rizpah also had titanic land leeches when conditions are especially wet."

Those were especially horrific and tended to be large enough to swallow a whole cow in one bite.
Also poisonous. Fortunately though the venomous grease they oozed from slime pores also turned out to be highly flammable.

"One of the leeches stung me and I had to rest inside Giga letting his immune system suck the poison out.  Hurt worse than the other venoms."

Giga Rex: "See, Gigus not so stupid; Save pilot's life."

"Yeah Sensei, I think we're getting the hang of this teamwork thing."
