Pilot Profile: J'onn Deere

J'onn is a space cowboy whose nationality of origin hails him a part of the Society of Cogwerk Planets.  He is best known for pioneering the re-purpose of several mecha for agricultural tasks and use in rural jobs, something which remains of vital importance to colonists whose aim is to make their settlements self-sufficient and more permanent.  J'onn pretty much single handedly wrote the book on what mods to make for adapting Anzus, Hoplites and Nerios to crop dusting and holds several AgMech Pull trophies, entering his customized Nerio every year.

His father a local sheriff and his mother a clergywoman and homemaker active in her community, J'onn's parents first noticed their son's mechanical aptitudes and passion for science at an early age when he was still just a small child. Despite living in a backwater world on a rural colony within Cogwerk Space, they did what they had to scrimping and saving until they had enough credits to get their son the best education they could buy him.

Originally a traditional rancher and crystal farmer by vocation, it was as a young man that Mr. Deere received his Ag Science and mineralogy degrees from Cogwerk Tech Vocational School.  While studying there two events would shape J'onn's adult life. He took up competitive sharpshooting for recreation and it was during the process of obtaining his degrees that J'onn became aware of niches other than combat with which light mecha could fill.  He is regarded as a true innovator in the latter field.  Possessing his father's skill in precision shooting and his mother's passion for helping the community, these traits hail him a hero in Cogwerk's farming communities.

Now entering late middle age, J'onn Deer has the distinctions of holding title as representing chairperson of the Labor Party in the Trinitarian World Symposium's parliament and is an outspoken member of Cogwerk's agricultural lobby, where he is ever the quick advocate to evangelize possible benefits for adopting new technology in ranching, farming and crystal growth.

Refusing to become a pompous fat senator, J'onn Deere still actively maintains his own ranch on part of his family estate on their home world.  His tenure as a politician is of chagrin to some of the Deere clan though, in spite of generally being well meaning. Stubbornly refusing to ever hire mercs as bodyguards and insisting on personally handling all of his own security, J'onn gained media attention when he personally foiled an assassination attempt while in office, being one of the few politicians possessing the technical skill to in short order counter-snipe his would be assailant using an improvised firearm assembled from commonplace office materials.  He is a person truly larger than life.
