New Legendary Pilot Bio for Scott Abbott ID# 468961 by Kenneth Hicks ID# 846092

Abbott made a name for himself in the 3270s with a squadron of eight Infernos, churning and burning his way to four consecutive King of the Mountain events which led to him becoming the Chief Tactical Officer of the AFF for years.

In 3303, with the help of Legendary Pilot and Commander Todd Rainey, Scott gathered his allies and broke from AFF, forming a new family of Clans named Dragons United, in which he leads the Adamantium Dragons.

Since then, he has managed to gather an extraordinary number of Gold medals throughout many of the Clan War Divisions and has set the standard as far as tactical leadership is described today.

Pilot Profile Poppa Whiskey

Editors note* This is a back story/companion profile piece to the character listed in the Frigis tech read out

Papa Whiskey began on a little out post colony running boundary security in a broken down Bishop Mech. He entered a couple regional tournaments and gained the attention of a couple Faction military recruiters.  He met with both the Shogunate and the Cogwerk Ports representatives. He decided on the Cogwerk Ports later citing that they had made the more lucrative offer.

He fit in rather well with the Ports security team and was driving one of  two security Severs when  dozens of Gigus mechs ran loose in the port. He displayed further skill when a short time later he was responsible for 54 confirmed Cult of Gigus kills in the wild space of Valkus Prime.

He was offered a position with B.O.M.B. (Black Ops Mecha Battalion) by the true Galactic military and spent 4 tours there. (Not much is known of this time as it is all classified clearance Alpha -1-Red-1) What is known is that after he got out of service he joined on with star Factories to become their test pilot for their new freeze juggernaut the Frigis mecha.

During a mecha demonstration for possible investors, he faced a squad of Smilidons, Severs and Gigus. He simply sauntered out onto the battlefield powered up and pulsed one time creating a storm of the now trade mark lightning bolts. That pulse shut down every mecha on the field and he easily destroyed them at will with his various lasers and freeze weapons already on board. The whole fight lasted all of five minutes. That pretty much settled the minds of Star Factories investors and the Frigis has been in production ever since. His payment for that job was to keep the mecha he tested which he later named Bootlegger. He is a pilot who is very capable and an asset on the battlefield. Recommendations for future engagements are for threat levels high or above.

My Pilot History By Pat Willis#224534

Current Status - Active Legendary Pilot since pre clan war III, in Baconary 3266.

Past Clan Allegiances - Skarn, AFF.
Current Clan - Brotherhood (Northwind Highlanders)

Faction Allegiance - Shogunate.

Past Galactic Standing - Neutral, Member of A.N.N.
Current Galactic Standing - Neutral, Creator and Editor In Chief of Galaxy Gathering.

Mecha of choice-  Frozen Dream (Frigis), Jabberwocky (Regis), Crossfire (Fext).

History- What we do know comes mostly from the Mecha Tournaments and the A.N.N.,as well as Galaxy Gathering. When he arrived on the scene he was a relatively untested pilot. His first mecha was a largely customized Keradon. Soon after purchasing this mecha he signed on with a clan named Skarn. While there he participated in a few tournaments and Clan Wars III.

While he was not the best pilot he did manage to bring home a few medals and some cash from the tournaments. While he was content with the steady security work and occasional muscle contracts, he soon became bored with his Clan. He made a clean break from Clan Skarn and left on rather good terms. He free-lanced for a while until he got a summons from the Death’s Collectors clan leader. He was reviewed, tested and soon brought into the clan. He stayed there for quite some time before becoming disillusioned with the clan and seeking other pastures. He wound up calling the Brotherhood home.

Since that time he has done away with his Keradon replacing it with mostly BMF mecha, as well as a few Heavies, and Huge. He does keep one Klarn/Novum mecha in his hanger as it is just so much fun to pilot and go whizzing about in. He also broke away from A.N.N. which he was a writer and editor for, to create Galaxy Gathering. Reasoning for this is a bit sketchy at this time. But what is known is that his news site G.G. is a prime source of entertainment, news, and reviews across the galaxy.

In his spare time he serves as Liaison for J&K Distributors, a mecha R&D lab housed inside Garhan station. It is an old orbital battle platform used by the Forerunners found deep within Shogunate space, bordering the frontier markers into wild space , and now home to the Brotherhood entire. The station has been given a new lease on life by way of the Forerunner construct Kellek, and the Niodemancer Johnathan Judas, who have transformed the deadly station into a weapons, and mecha creation lab. Although how long such an association stays profitable, as well as peaceful remains to be seen.

Interview With Scott Abbott 468961 By Kenneth Hicks 846092

K: Hi there every one and welcome to the Pilot’s Corner. Today’s guest is none other than Scott Abbott. Scott, how we doing today?

S: Uh, pretty good…. I thought… this was a Tactical meeting…

K: No no. I had this on your calendar for two months. Sit down, answer some questions and you’re free to go.

S: Okay, wait. What?

K: No worries Scott! Anywhoo, so tell us. How did you start to get into Mecha Galaxy, what was the draw?

S: The mechs drew me into Mecha Galaxy.  I was a long time fan of the Battletech and Mechwarrior games.

K: table top or PC?

S: Mostly PC, I think I only had the pleasure of playing table top once or twice

S: I started off in the Dark Angels training squad, the "Ravenwing."  I can remember Jan Kump being the clan leader.  That was when I quickly learned that I didn't want to languish in a bronze clan for very long.

S:   I moved to Blood Oath after two wars and got a silver or two against a very tough Death's Stalkers squad that had Andrew Bell, Chad Larson and some other very notable names that I eventually brought with me to the Dragons.

S: I can't find any more stalkers even though there were a couple worth mentioning.

K: So the Dragons. What was the medal count this time?

S: Five Golds for the main clans, silver for Ruby, Crystal was silver (as planned) Nova and Training got gold, while Training II got silver. So altogether, seven golds and three silvers.

K: That really is outstanding. These types of wins are possible with something you are fairly well known for, and that's being able to set up an accurate spreadsheet. What's your background with running stats like that?

S: Back when I first joined the AFF we had two strong clans, Reavers and Disciples.  The Reavers had an average in the lower fourties while the Disciples had an average in the low fifties.
S: We figured they would be in separate divisions.  We figured wrong.  Ultimately, they met in the third round and the higher average clan won.  Hence, I coined the term "Reavered".

S:  I kept tabs on divisional level points from there on to ensure we didn't have multiple clans in the same division.

S:  I don't think we have had two clans in the same division unless intentional or when Nick changes it up and makes it Eight clans in D3.

S: Even then, I try to ensure that same clan family clans are 8 clans apart to keep them in different divisions.

K: It's definitely a formula you've perfected over time.

K: Ever since I've known you, you have preached the basics of conserving. Conserving resources. Waiting for sales. Not gaining xp, etc. What would be some other, possibly "out of the box" ideas that you adhere to when building a solid clan or formation?

S: James Waddington, when he was doing clan setups for Exiles back in the day, was the reason I had to start being more creative with clan setups.

S: He built Exiles Immortals specifically to beat a very strong Accolytes team back then, and they smoked us from the word go two wars in a row.

S:  He developed a level dropping clan that allowed for strong middle specialists and three to four heavy hitters that would sweep, or nearly sweep.  It was very effective and made me rethink a lot of the clan making that we have today.

S: As far as formation tech,  I don't think I have a firm grasp on what works and doesn't work,  I take advice from the pros like everybody else, heh heh heh.

K: And finally, what are your goals moving forward?

S: I would like to see Dragons working with some higher leveled clans or folks to crack divisions above D6.  I would to go up against BSLR again, but they have a 10 level advantage over our top guys.

K: Well, we’re getting short on time, is there anything else you’d like to add?

S: Shout out to all the devs for making this a great gaming community.  Hope it continues!

K: Nice! Well thank you much for taking the time to talk to us today Scott!

S: My pleasure Ken. Hey wait, was this thing locked?

K: Shh.

The Unofficial Biography Of Captain Lady Karen, 3rd Contessa Of Iksenslet By Karen Iksenslet#889315

Howdy. There are questions, I guess, about who am I and what I do. I submitting a mini-bio earlier, but...I may have been not completely honest. In the interest of disclosure and working closely with an interviewer, I submit to you: The story of Me.

The Unofficial Biography of Captain Lady Karen, 3rd  Contessa of Iksenslet

Captain Lady Karen, 3rd Contessa of Barony of Iskenslet was born approximately 26 years ago (by current date/in question) and the youngest of Colonel Sir Dirk of Iksenslet and Major Lady Karina of Iksenslet, sister to Her Holiness, the Abbess Katinka of Iksenslet, and Lieutenant Sir Brock of Iksenslet, Hero of the Battle of the Canyons (deceased), on the planet Omaha, third principle world of the New Holland Confederation. Her parents were war heroes, and celebrated military strategists of great repute. It had been suggested by scholars and historians that the New Holland system would have fallen to the depredations of the Shogunate, the Hegemony, and the Tech Warriors of Novum Dolorum had it not been for the military tactical genius of Colonel Sir Dirk and Major Lady Karina.

When Lady Karen turned sixteen years of age, she entered into the Grand Academy of the New Holland Defense Force. By all accounts, her record indicated that her performance was good, yet, no known records exist of her class standing, but she did graduate, which suggests that she did not earn enough demerits or nor was she low enough on the grading and tactical scale to cause her to fail to graduate with a commission. It is currently unknown when she was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. What records do exist imply that Lady Karen was undergoing training and education as a special missions operator. However, a deeper search is currently forbidden, as that all active/inactive records of such are heavily classified, and this author regrets a lack of a security clearance that high.

At some point in her career, Lady Karen was promoted to Platoon Leader and 1st Lieutenant, and on her own merits. She was given a small platoon of low grade scout mechs and was told to, “Cause trouble.” The after action reports were almost giddy, to use a descriptor, at the amount of “trouble” she caused. Sabotage, ambuscade, skirmishes, picking fights with hostile elements just to lead the enemy elements back to where the heavy artillery or infantry mechs could eliminate them. Lady Karen’s small force of scout mechs did more to set back any active invasion or strategic effort of hostile enemy forces than any heavy infantry or cavalry force that the New Holland Army could bring to bear. Reports from enemy forces repeatedly stated that hostile opposition was one thing, but a psychotic charge from light and under-armed scout mechs was something else, and was wholly unexpected.

The tactical doctrine of the New Holland Defense Force was to lure the enemy in, and then use heavy artillery, followed by cavalry, and then what remaining opposition would be eliminated by use of infantry. Close in air support was also used, but the ultimate end to battle was brought by heavy infantry mechs bringing all weapons to bear. Lady Karen, however, disregarded the doctrine. In revenge for the loss of her brother in the Battle of the Canyons, and while all sides agreed that he died with honor, Lady Karen rode out to face the Tech Warriors of Novum Dolorum on top of a prize Nephilax mech naked, and while screaming obscenities and waving a laser pulse rifle. The Tech Warriors were completely routed, and Lady Karen had satiated her vengeance.  While her “tactics” were lauded, this did cause some of the High Command to begin to question her sanity. Her parents were questioned at length about her stability, but their essential answer was, “Well, it worked, didn’t it?” This action initiated her promotion to Captain, and cemented her official court title of Captain Lady Karen, 3rd Contessa of Iksenslet.

Despite the heroic efforts of the New Holland Confederation to remain free, it was eventually annexed by the Hegemony, and at an extreme great cost to morale, manpower, materiel, and the Pyrrhic victory forced the Hegemony to reconsider their own military and tactical doctrine thence forward. Colonel Sir Dirk and Major Lady Karina were reduced in status to mere freeholders, and their titles and awards stripped and permanently barred from any social or civil service regarding the military under penalty of death. Captain Lady Karen of Iksenslet, for that was her rank and title during the Fall of the Confederation, elected to not surrender. In her mind, and from found documents and witness accounts, she believed that being a mercenary was lucrative, and should the opportunity present itself to avenge her parents and their loss of station and status, then she would take it.

Currently, Captain Lady Karen of Iksenslet is serving with a military mech clan and is working on her reputation as a ruthless warrior and the enforcer of her clan. It is not known what her actual outlook or mindset is, as that her actions are questionable, her motives unsure, and it has been suggested that she’s not mentally stable. However, what is not for debate is that she does appear to be doing well and despite her “issues”, her clan may appreciate her.
***This biography is unofficial and makes presumptions. There may be facts on in evidence, but this is the distillation from best sources and with evidence available. Do not consider this a scholarly account by any means. It serves merely to share facts that were gathered and to present another perspective to the mindset and motivations of Captain Lady Karen of Iksenslet.***

Karen Iksenslet By Karen Iksenslet#889315

My name is Karen Iksenslet, and I am a mercenary mech pilot. Let me tell you a little about me and why I am who I am.

My mother was a one-eyed stripper named Omaha. Nice lady, really. I lacked for nothing and I pole dance like a pro.  My formative years were much to be expected. I was taught to kill, steal, lie (which I am especially good at), seduce, take, and cause an inordinate amount of terror in the weak and afraid. I am good at it, and I apologize for none of it.

My mother wanted the best for me, and as an especially talented exotic dancer, she had nearly unlimited capital. She paid for the best training, the best pilots to teach me, and she harbored no weakness or excuses. She wanted nothing but the best I could do, and she would spare no cost in seeing that I got what I wanted. My mother taught me to take no prisoners, to exploit weakness, and to incite terror and fear in everyone so long as it met my goals. My mother was really firm on goal achievement.

Eventually, the life she led got the best of her and she died. I did not shed a tear, nor did I show any sadness. Her strip club shut down for a week, and at her funeral, it rained credit bills for a solid hour. But, with what I learned and how I acquired it, I sought to shake what my mama gave me, and do the worst to the best. She showed no mercy, no fear, and had a positive outlook. I learned from her.

Now I live to crush my enemies, both real and imagined. My view and my training has taught me that I am your best friend, or your worst enemy, and I draw no distinction between the two. You are useful as long as you are, and no one is special so long as they aren’t. Whatever clan accepts me choses to take a complete psychopath with no actual understanding of mercy and compassion. A wise man once said, “Life is pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something.” I am life, and I am pain. Make of it and take from it what you will.

I am Karen Iksenslet. Let me teach you fear.

Pilot Profile: J'onn Deere

J'onn is a space cowboy whose nationality of origin hails him a part of the Society of Cogwerk Planets.  He is best known for pioneering the re-purpose of several mecha for agricultural tasks and use in rural jobs, something which remains of vital importance to colonists whose aim is to make their settlements self-sufficient and more permanent.  J'onn pretty much single handedly wrote the book on what mods to make for adapting Anzus, Hoplites and Nerios to crop dusting and holds several AgMech Pull trophies, entering his customized Nerio every year.

His father a local sheriff and his mother a clergywoman and homemaker active in her community, J'onn's parents first noticed their son's mechanical aptitudes and passion for science at an early age when he was still just a small child. Despite living in a backwater world on a rural colony within Cogwerk Space, they did what they had to scrimping and saving until they had enough credits to get their son the best education they could buy him.

Originally a traditional rancher and crystal farmer by vocation, it was as a young man that Mr. Deere received his Ag Science and mineralogy degrees from Cogwerk Tech Vocational School.  While studying there two events would shape J'onn's adult life. He took up competitive sharpshooting for recreation and it was during the process of obtaining his degrees that J'onn became aware of niches other than combat with which light mecha could fill.  He is regarded as a true innovator in the latter field.  Possessing his father's skill in precision shooting and his mother's passion for helping the community, these traits hail him a hero in Cogwerk's farming communities.

Now entering late middle age, J'onn Deer has the distinctions of holding title as representing chairperson of the Labor Party in the Trinitarian World Symposium's parliament and is an outspoken member of Cogwerk's agricultural lobby, where he is ever the quick advocate to evangelize possible benefits for adopting new technology in ranching, farming and crystal growth.

Refusing to become a pompous fat senator, J'onn Deere still actively maintains his own ranch on part of his family estate on their home world.  His tenure as a politician is of chagrin to some of the Deere clan though, in spite of generally being well meaning. Stubbornly refusing to ever hire mercs as bodyguards and insisting on personally handling all of his own security, J'onn gained media attention when he personally foiled an assassination attempt while in office, being one of the few politicians possessing the technical skill to in short order counter-snipe his would be assailant using an improvised firearm assembled from commonplace office materials.  He is a person truly larger than life.

Pilot Profile Of Ben Parker

Ben Parker is a dreamer. Reading about mysteries like the Precursors, the Chaos Gate, and secret organizations like the Order of the Potato have always sparked a desire to explore and find the truth.

This desire even prompted a visit to a recruiter on his home of Indicass Orbital World Alpha. A disappointing lack of results and no reply from the recruiter's office left him only dreaming. Even after inheriting his grandmother's farm, he had doubts about seeing the stars and the wonders they contained.

Then, one day a mercenary commander came calling, and his life was forever changed. Now, armed with his Mecha, Daemion, - whatever chassis it may be - and some colleagues, he is exploring the galaxy, seeing the wonders and delving into its secrets.

Pilot Profile Of 1goml #637975

This is Deborah Roaché-Hudak with 1goml #637975, of the clan Relax... It is just a game, in a Galaxy Gathering interview. We'll be looking at a few aspect of the game today, thanks for joining me. I see your first KotM was back in September of last yr, in nearly a year there have been many changes, what specifically are you happy to see that's new?

1goml: I liked the idea of faction wars. I was scared it would replace clan wars. However, now that I've seen clan wars will still be the main thing, I'm very happy. I like the fact he (BCDC) fixed direct MG accounts and gave them stim packs and hatoraides, more importantly upgrade kits!

Deb: Those perks are worth fighting for, it's good to know they were heard and addressed. Most have days where glitches prevent sending/accepting gifts or something of that nature. Have you experienced any problems or any that were fixed?

1goml: Direct MG accounts still can't send gifts or accept. It's automated by BCDC, we get a limited amount every 3 days. It works great like his crystal fix! Now if we can fix HG it will be perfect

Deb: Must be many of the same things Kongragate players face. Has any of the different accesses to the game posed a problem when it comes to recruiting, considering the limitations?

1goml: It has, we force players to add us on FB so it's easier to communicate. While I've made my clan a forum for that purpose they don't seem very interested in it..

Deb: Not unlike trying to keep the player's page alive and active, only so many will jump into a mix like that. Now that you've had the opportunity to see a few Raids after the Wars, how has your team fared? Some found it too difficult still while others complain the prizes seem inadequate for all the work they did even if the waves were easy.

1goml: I'm with the bunch of people about prizes. Last raid I killed 5K+ and landed a pair of Keradon... At level 36 that is nearly useless however the difficulty was fine for us.

Deb: Is there anything you'd like to add before we conclude today?

1goml: Nothing to add

Deb: Okay. Once again thanks for your time, I appreciate your being here and sharing your thoughts. I look forward to seeing you in the next wars, until then I bid you safe travels and successful battles.

Mycobacter Pilot Profile

This pilot is known for two things: His unusual skin tone which was the permanent result of a lab accident involving bacteria crudely hybridized with some forerunner tech and his constant modding of his mecha.

He's very vocal about his opinions on the mecha and equipment that he comes across and sometimes puts reviews out on them for the Galaxy Gathering.  Grew up listening to Moe Lee's weapon reviews on A.N.N.

Recently myco developed and fielded a prototype "cyborg brain" module he calls the "Synthman copilot".  It's an ambitious fusion of reverse engineered cloning tech he stole from Drake and "borrowed" Novum Delorum Drone AI research.  He means for these to ultimately be used as next generation "learning machines" to replace the outmoded ALTS cloning procedure but for the time being, the process of manufacturing them keeps Synthmen too expensive to easily mass-produce in an effective manner.

Myco swears that with each successive generation of Synthmen he'll iron out more bugs but for the time being using a cyborg brain as a copilot remains more of a novelty feature than a mainstay in mecha combat.

Best Known Pilots From Old Mars

On Old Mars the way they organize their mecha events borrows a lot culturally from sports like Old Earth's boxing and professional wrestling.  Some of the entrants that most quickly took to becoming mecha pilots were the construction and mining crews.

Two well known "fighters" are the AI Drone named Billy the Heel  who used to be a construction foreman and a "face" former miner whose stage name is "Saw Boss".  Fighters are somewhat flashy and use gimmicks.  Payed to view kayfabe grudge matches aren't uncommon on the Old Mars Colony and neither are bootlegged pirate recordings of those matches amongst spectators since the Corrupt Old Mars media conglomerate tries to milk the cash cow of "official matches" by charging exorbitant ticket fees to attend said events.

Fighters do give charity matches in the form of non-televised "Dark Matches" though for causes they personally care about. For example Billy the Heel though fighting dirty, on the advice of his publicist supports universal access to computers for children and Saw Boss is known to support an orphanage from the area of the Colony which he grew up in.

Notable Triax Gate Warriors

Leon Novapas - "Achilles"

Leon is a Duelist from Triax. While their standing military may not have Mechs in its ranks, the Triax people have quickly adapted existing Mecha technology through their own tech savvy and with the help of friendly traders.

Leon was a powered infantry trooper credited with crippling a Mech with a well-placed explosive charge on its ankle. Having earned the kill, he was awarded the chance to pilot it. He tested successfully.

Though not the first Triax Duelist through the gate, he is proving to be formidable opponent. All who survive fights with him and learn about his tale have started calling him 'Achilles', and he seems to be living up to the reputation of the ancient Greek hero.

Americo Columbus - "Marco Polo"

Americo Columbus is an advanced scout forever running through unexplored gates to find potential holdings for his clan. He has always managed to return, and has the highest record for exploration. Some have likened him to the best known European explorer to Asia back on old Earth, earning him the monicre "Marco Polo".

Columbus was the one to notice the unused Hermione gate and asked about its history. Seeing the potential for another quick holding to add to his clan, he gathered a force with permission from his clan lord and went through. Though his clan's invasion of Triax was short-lived, he survived and his clan was content to let the world go.

He still keeps an ear to the goings-on regarding the latest clan attempts to crack the Triax nut, usually with great mirth at their ultimate failure. Having learned of the first duelist from Triax, Americo personally challenged and defeated the woman in single combat. However, he has left all others alone.

Pilots Of The Chaos Gate

Johnny Applebee

A.k.a. - 'Appleseed'

John Applebee is the epitome of a thrill-seeker. Having come up from a poor back-ground, he has a country charm that has earned him the moniker 'Appleseed'. Johnny is the oldest Mech Jock to journey through the Chaos Gate. Others have been through the gate multiple times but eventually met their end. Johnny has always managed to return. He intends to be the one with the most trips through the gate, a record he already holds. He still keeps going through, knowing that there might be someone, someday, who could outdo his current record. In spite of the horrors, he has seen as many wonders, and this keeps him coming back, time and again.

Benjamin Disraeli

A.k.a. - 'Lone Star'

Benjamin Disraeli is ex-royalty. His clan and holdings were conquered by a much larger faction. The elements were absorbed into the clan, including Benjamin, but he and other members chafed under the new rules. Eventually he and his fellow dissenters were kicked out.

Benjamin found a new start at the Chaos Gate. Having heard rumors of worlds that could barely stand up to some small Mech parties, he quickly found someone who would back him with a Mech. He would sometimes mention in confidence a desire to start a new kingdom on a world away from the clans. These confidants didn't mention anything until the day he didn't return.

His entire scouting party never came back at the scheduled rendezvous. Most believed it was another hostile world. However, later investigation showed that his last party consisted entirely of old friends, including his fiance. It is speculated Ben found his promised land. Unless the gate recycles to that world, nobody will ever know if he has started his whispered kingdom, or met some grisly demise.

Pilot Profile Richard Millich

This is Deborah Roaché-Hudak with Richard Millich # 291875 in a pilot profile to learn the lore of the development of his clans. Thank you for joining here today Richard.

Richard: Good afternoon.

Deb: Which was the first clan you formed and when?

Richard: The 99th Chessmen R&D Corps was formed for Clan Wars IV

Deb: An admirable clan to be sure. When did you decide to expand and which unit came next?

Richard: The 123rd Alpha Strikers began life as the 1st/99th Lite Legion in association with Clan Wolverine much like the 99th was. This was for Clan Wars VII.

Deb: I've had the opportunity to chat with you and a few of your crew, they seem well disciplined. Would you say that's the biggest reason for your continued success in CWs?

Richard: No. There is no single attribute for our consistent success, but rather a combination of factors all working together.

Deb: The formula is working for you so far. How many units are in your clan (some may call it a brotherhood) at the moment?

Richard: Three, soon to be four.

Deb: Have you had any difficulties as you continue to grow?

Richard: Yes, actually. Creating the third unit was especially difficult, because we had to keep all three units competitive and with a strong leadership staff in each one. We rushed ahead and recruited old 99ers back who had moved on. Their levels were high, and that pushed us into a higher division than we were prepared for in the new unit: the 82nd Omicron Guard. This was one reason we took one of our three losses out of fifty-one clan battles. That was in Clan Wars X.

Deb: This clan was the first I met any from, even a Silver start is respectable. Do you hope to continue dominating the lower divisions or will you plan to move up any time soon?

Richard: Our division placement is slowly going down, not up, and that's because most players and clans are leveling faster than we ate, filling the higher divisions out ahead of us. We do plan to continue winning any division where we are placed, and with our fourth unit, we will likely win there too. As for "moving up", we prefer to be absolutely prepared, player by player so that we advance as a clenched fist. This of course takes more time, and so the more impatient clans move past us while we move more deliberately.

Deb: Your plan has succeeded thus far. Is there any advice you'd offer new players or anything else you'd like to add?

Richard: Advice to new players... Other than the basics, which are easily accessible by joining either the Mecha Galaxy Players Facebook group or the Kongregate forum... I'd say, figure out your playing speed early on. This way you can select a unit that is right for you. Some players choose to go it alone, and this might be your choice as well. I'd advise against it, as the benefits of having a team around you are far superior on and off the battlefield. Finally, don't be afraid to try to form a unit of your own. It takes time to gather the eight dedicated players necessary, but it's well worth it if you are eager to inspire others with a unique leadership vision. I've done it, and thirty players are now winning on a gold standard basis under me. You can do it too. Well, unless you face the RND. *chuckles warmly*

Deb: Indeed, it takes time and effort but is satisfying. I do appreciate your time, thank you again. I look forward to seeing you and your crew in the next CWs. Until then I bid you safe travels and successful battles.

Richard: Now, if you'll excuse me. I need to climb into this Dilophos cockpit and lead my opposition force against a Symposium planetary unit as part of our new training contract. Clan Wars XIII!

Pilot Profile Justin Verret

This is Deborah Roaché-Hudak with Justin Verret # 10698 of clan Cyberstorm in an in-depth pilot profile and look at the origins of this Gold winning clan. Thank you for being here Justin.

Justin: Thanks for having me Deborah.

Deb: When exactly did you form CS?

Justin: We formed Cyberstorm after Clan Wars II, back in February of 2013

Deb: You were formerly with MurderBots, had you grown to much, needing to split? Clans were smaller back then I believe, but that's before my time.

Justin: Back then we had a friendly Rivalry with The Northwind Highlanders, but it was quite one-sided in terms of power. to add a third clan to the Division 1 Competition Members from both MurderBots and Northwind Highlanders collaborated and Founded Cyberstorm to be a rival power for the two other clans

Deb: Do you have any specific requirements in order to join?

Justin: At the current time, we are not recruiting, but when we have in the past it has been a level requirement. Initially, when we first started, it was level 30. Right now, if we were to recruit, it would be 75 or more. I generally prefer players who are active daily, and communicate in a timely fashion with the rest of the clan.

Deb: That certainly helps, I agree. Has your focus or game plans as a clan changed over time since so much has been added?

Justin: We've tried out some new things, but generally find one clan works best for all of us. I like to think we have been at the forefront of trying out nearly everything in terms of equipment, mecha, and formation analysis. I do know we're not alone there, everyone's always tweaking formations and such

Deb: Seems we can't be competitive unless we do. That answers another question I had too, wondering if you'd look to expand as others have. How many original members are still with you?

Justin: 6 current members have been here since we started

Deb: That's a long time to keep a solid core group, admirable. So if I understand the origins, MBs were the original clan that NWHLs came from and CS was a combination of both groups?

Justin: No, Nothwind Highlanders existed at the same time as MuderBots. Back then Richard McKenna was the leader, and I considered him a friend. At one time I'd actually talked to him about joining the Highlanders. When he left the game alot of people were saddened. MB and NWHL are two of the oldest clans, all of the ones that predate them, save Lunite pirates, are long inactive now.

Deb: I see, thank you for the clarification. You're had a nearly perfect record for Golds since your origin, does it bore you now to go to CWs?

Justin: no because there's always the chance to lose. I do admit the order of combat gets abit old, we can predict the order of fights pretty much. i admit the time we drew the highlanders first forced a change in how we approached things, but it's been a long time since then

Deb: The random factor appears to be lacking as far as I can see as well but that's material for a different interview. I appreciate the time you're taken with me. Is there anything you'd like to add?

Justin: I just want to say it's been fun playing with everyone all this time, and I look forward to seeing the other players out there enjoying the game. thank you for your time Deborah.

Deb: You're welcome. I'll see you on the battlefield in CWs no doubt. It seems to be the reason for most, if not all, movement and formation of new clans. Until then, I bid you safe travels and successful battles.

Pilot Profile Al Smith

This is Deborah Roaché-Hudak with an in-depth look at the formation of the Murder Bots. Here with me is Al Smith # 12592, thank you for taking the time to be here. When did your clan form and who exactly were the original members?

Al: gosh i cant even remember, i formed it right after i started playing, and was recruiting the most active players i could get my hands on. lots of em dont play at all anymore but the ones that do are all cybers now... if you want to know the originals look at the cybers profiles and see which ones have a clan war one medal with the murderbots

Deb: How many CWs did you go to before the group drastically changed?

Al: after the second cw they mutinied and started poaching the rest of our "good" ($$$) players

Deb: Had you all been together in the Beta version or other games prior to MG starting?

Al: i didnt play the beta or any other games with them no

Deb: What motivated you into starting Murder Bots?

Al: i wanted to start a winning clan in mg, i was playing alot trying to get past a couple players that started before me and have since quit, so i wanted to get other actives together to try and put up a good group that could be a div 1 leader...

Deb: So finding the most active would help get the best clan together, makes sense. Do you think there would have been a way to keep the team together, now looking back.

Al: probably not but if there was i wasn't coming up with it lol basically the big money players i had recruited banded together and left me and the other not so big spenders behind

Deb: Never good to see people leave a clan usually, can understand the move tactically speaking, it has paid off for them ever since. What changes to the game have made the best impact for players in your opinion?

Al: probably equipment was the biggest good change. the fact that anyone worked to get the biggest spenders together on one clan has got to be the worst impact... game had far more balance with them being in different random places

Deb: Would you have any suggestions for improving Clan Wars?

Al: yeah a spending cap per clan chef will never go for it tho

Deb: Not in the best interest for business but it would help some perhaps. Is there anything else you'd like to add before we wrap this up?

Al: i could go on bitchin all day lol but ill let you get back to nursing ur foot... thanks for your time and for always being so nice :)

Deb: My pleasure and thank you for being here as well. Seems we're in a foot race to level 150 and you have the advantage. I'll keep you on your toes at least. Until we meet again, I bid you safe travels and successful battles.

Deborah Roaché-Hudak #289133

Pilot Profile Thodoris Liolios

Deborah Roaché-Hudak here with Thodoris Liolios #30531, current leader of Northwind Highlands. I've spoken with the founder Richard McKenna already, thank you for taking time to speak with me.

Ted: Always a pleasure talking to you Deb :)

Deb: I know from previous interview the clan was formed at the start of the game, at what point did you become leader?

Ted: i joined the clan early October 2012 Then real lfe issues had to force my dear friend Richard to quit the game. So, i assumed leadership at about early December of that same year.

Deb: You've watched the clan grow into what is now called a brotherhood. Are you surprised at the progression?

Ted: Honestly? Yes. I was very intimidated when i first picked up the reigns of leadership I had to prove Richard correct on his choice. And i had to make sure the clan grew and prospered. I kinda feel i made it on both accounts but i have to say that i had great help on the way. People like Steve, James, you and many others, some of which are not with the clan anymore, like Russ.

Deb: There is constant change for sure.

Ted: Indeed. The game, the clans, the players are very different to what they used to be when i first started playing MG. Some would call this change progress and up to a point it is progress.

Deb: The introduction of new elements does impact how we play. Finding players to recruit is becoming straining at the upper levels. What keeps you going?

Ted: First of all, a sense of duty. I have to keep the Brotherhood going for Richard's sake. Second, i have a duty to our people to keep this game interesting for them and provide them a home. Third, i like this game :)

Deb: Loyalty and honor do seem to be a common theme in all the clans that have continued over time.

Ted: Very true, there have to be constants in a game/clan to keep people focused.

Deb: How do you keep disruptions like members leaving or joining from interfering with your focus?

Ted: I usually swear out loud in Greek ,lmao. That always helps me refocus. Seriously though, we have a main body of people that has been so long with us that even when people leave or people join the disruptions are brought to a bare minimum. I swear that i sometimes feel that the brotherhood is a living, breathing entity.

Deb: The ideals it was founded upon are strong so no wonder. Were you with the MurderBots before the split occurred and the new clans was formed?

Ted: Nope, i have been with NWHL since i started playing

Deb: Fair enough, won't ask about history you weren't there for.

Ted: if I remember correctly, I joined NWHL at 10/4/2012

Deb: How do you feel about MBs dissolving?

Ted: They were one of the oldest clans in game. And even though our relationships weren't exactly the best, i found it kinda sad that such an old and established clan dissolved. Then again, they were not the only ones neither were they the first. Many clans of old no longer exist .

Deb: I'd venture to guess up to half of the first CWs clans aren't around, some reformed and renamed but others grew and expanded.

Ted: Indeed, a lot has changed regarding clans and players of old. This is normal up to a point -I've seen it happen in every game i've played- though it seems the level of "attrition" in this particular game is a bit too high.

Deb: It seems we have many clans being absorbed into the {AFF} affiliation..

Ted: Well, if they can keep the players' interest in the game high that's not bad. Though it can become very tedious and time consuming to try and organize so many people.

Deb: Do you think it's possible for another group to grow as the brotherhood and AFF have?

Ted: Sure, why not? All it takes is a group of people with the will to do it.

Deb: True, we do have RND expanding from the lowest divisions where they've shown domination for some time. Do you have any secret you can reveal in how to keep it all together?

Ted: Yes, never forget that it's just a game and never take things way too seriously. And find good people you can rely upon ;)

Deb: Even when things seems to be personal, it is only a game-that's true. Agreed, those you can rely on and trust does seem to help

Ted: It's the alpha and the omega

Deb: Would you have any suggestions to offer any new players just starting the game?

Ted: Hmm Take it easy when you start leveling up. Join a clan as soon as possible, ask any questions you may have and be careful how you spend your resources and skill points

Deb: All great suggestions. I appreciate the time you've taken with me. Keep up the great work and good luck in future CWs. Until then I bid you safe travels and successful battles.

Ted: Thank you very much for the time you dedicated for me Deb. Cya on the battlefield

Deborah Roaché-Hudak #289133

Pilot Profile Richard McKenna

This is Deborah Roaché-Hudak with Richard McKenna 25562, founder of Northwind Highlanders and creator of the ‘brotherhood’ in a pilot profile in-depth interview to look inside how NWHLs and the brotherhood came about. Thank you very much for speaking with me Richard.

Richard: Always a pleasure.

Deb:Being able to find out the heart of stories was why I asked to join the news, I'm grateful for the opportunity to find out more about the people who love this game. What clan was actually the first clan to get started?

Richard: The Northwind Highlanders, created on October 1, 2012

Deb: That was an important decision for you. Would you care to explain why that date is important and how it all came about please?

Richard: First, I would like to extend a heart felt congratulations, and happy belated birthday to the mecha galaxy chapter of the Northwind Highlanders and its subsidiaries. For me, October 1st is an extremely important day, a day of mourning and remembrance. For those who were not with me in the beginning; On October 1st, 2011 my family was struck by the tragic passing of our daughter, Cora Nave, she was 17. On October 1st, 2012, the first anniversary of her passing, I decided to do something, in my fashion, to honor and remember her. She was a big fan of Facebook, and had played Battletech with me when she was younger, so I decided, while playing Mecha Galaxy, to create a clan for the underdogs. As a personal tribute to my daughter, I formed the Northwind Highlanders. Together with my son, Rick McKenna, and a dedicated group of players, including, Thodoris Liolios, Thane Dawson, War Master Part II, Roy Cheah, Ryan Weaver (ret.), Thomas Ohl (ret.), Kowa Les (ret.), and Russ Painter (ret.) we set out to redefine the status quo.

Richard continues: This organization has grown so much since those days, for me it is mind boggling and awe inspiring. The status quo has indeed been redefined, and it was done with honor and integrity. Six clans strong, and growing, this organization sets the bar by which all others are now measured. Our officers lead by example, and set forth the highest standards of performance and conduct. Our members are enthusiastic, dedicated, and loyal; A most ferocious and tenacious force in competition. You all have done such an amazing job. You have, not only lived up to, but exceeded my every expectation, and on a personal level, you all have brought great honor to the memory of her for whom this was began. Thank you all, so much, for everything you do, and have done. (Especially Thodoris, you are a giant in character and a paragon among men. Thank you for carrying this torch to heights I could not.) In closing, to the greatest organization in Mecha Galaxy, and the finest men and women who comprise it, happy birthday Northwind Highlanders! Buaidh no bas!

Deb: My condolences again on your loss. That is one of the most heartfelt statements I’ve read in a long time and I’ve been a literary agent for over 15 years. What a noble origin for a simple game. I had no knowledge of all those details until we celebrated that one year anniversary not so long ago. I didn’t joined until six months later, been playing catch up ever since it feels like. Your tribute to her, as well as the expansions to create the brotherhood, allowed more players like myself to join. What made you decide to expand? Black Watch came next?

Richard: The community was rife with discontent regarding the dominance of clan MurderBots. As the Northwind Highlanders became viewed as contenders, many sought to join us in our fight to end MB’s reign. I created the first clan subsidiary, Black Watch, to answer that demand.

Deb: You’ve continued to expand ever since, finding great pilots that other clans didn’t get in many divisions. Must have been great to watch. With CWs XI looming, is there anything you’d like to say?

Richard: I am ever proud of all members of this organization. It has been a great joy and profound honor to be counted among such fine competitors, and wonderful people. My thanks goes out to each of them, best wishes to all.

Deb: I’m sure some in the brotherhood may not know the roots but now all can read about it as well as those in Mecha Galaxy. I appreciate your time.

Richard: Happy to do it. It was good speaking with you again, hope to again soon. Take care.

Deb: Likewise. It was a privilege and honor to share this chat. I hope to have the opportunity to bring more stories like this to light. Take care as well and thanks so much. Until we meet again I bid you safe travels and successful battles.

Deborah Roaché-Hudak #289133

Pilot Profile Robert C. Goetz Sr.

This is Deborah Roaché-Hudak with an in-depth look at the formation of the clan {AFF} and the man who started it all, Robert C. Goetz Sr. #175626. Thank you for taking time to share your story with us Robert.

Robert: No problem enjoy the press stopping by from time to time...

Deb: Would you please tell me which clan was the first you formed and when?

Robert: Death's Collectors almost a year ago

Deb: How many clans are there total now?

Robert: Last I checked believe it to be 15, some have been added others fold into the {AFF}

Deb: That's quite an achievement in less than one year. Do you find it difficult to keep up with all the logistics having grown so large?

Robert: I have a great group of leaders to help with it all, we have our leaders Council and they try to decide what clan competes in what division and where the transfers need to be done, we try to make a home for not only the elite players, but for all active players and we have clans for both types of players, so all our friends may stay and be together

Deb: Great teamwork sure makes a big difference. I doubt you intended to be this big when you first began. What made you form Death's Collector's?

Robert: I was a new player and didn't want to join another clan so created my own...then once it got going, had to split because not everyone was leveling together and was having to cut friends from the clan to be able to compete in our division better, after several months of doing this I felt there had to be a better way...the old established clans had their ladder clans...so figured why couldn't we do the same....the first several clans were all lead by former Collectors which made us work tightly as a group because we knew how we thought and played. One of the early founders of the {AFF} Stoner Steward is no longer with the game...but was a great trainer of new talent...made it so much easier.

Deb: Then which clan came after Collector's and how long after would you guess?

Robert: Disciples was the second clan not sure maybe around June... We tried a merger to where we brought another clan into our AFF...but didn't work well, the clan was Deathmetal...the leader wasn't very active...we ended up just inviting the active players into our other clans a few months later, 3 of those players are still with us 2 lead multi-time gold winning clans, Revenge and Disciples

Deb: Since Collector's was the first formed, it may have special meaning for you but is there any other clan that you're particularly fond of, one of your gems?

Robert: I guess the one that stands out most of the rest is Death's Curse {AFF} I started that clan in July with the launch of MG on Kong, I started that clan with the alter I created there, the devs wanted us to checkout and like the game on that site. In our first CW a couple weeks later fought for gold against the longtime camper the 99th, my clan was all new Kong players and I was proud of how well they did, we did loose that time but came back to win the next one, that was the first clan I won CW gold in..so hard to forget that.

Deb: The first Gold win is definitely memorable, earning it against such a formidable clan is certainly a bonus. Do you expect to have enough clans now or is there potential for more growth?

Robert: We didn't face them again with that clan...forget who we beat for the gold, but we did beat them later with another clan Acolytes. As far as growth, sure there is always room for growth, if not straight up competition clans always room for more training and developmental clans.

Deb: There are always new elements coming into play, it's good to grow with them. Sorry about the misunderstanding on who's Gold was when. Is there any advice you'd offer to new players?

Robert: Level slowly, enter all events, find a clan with active knowledgeable leadership so you don't make all those early mistakes we all seemed to have done...

Deb: Great advice. I look forward to seeing you and your crew at the next Clan Wars. Thank you once again and I bid you safe travels and successful battles.
