Best Known Pilots From Old Mars

On Old Mars the way they organize their mecha events borrows a lot culturally from sports like Old Earth's boxing and professional wrestling.  Some of the entrants that most quickly took to becoming mecha pilots were the construction and mining crews.

Two well known "fighters" are the AI Drone named Billy the Heel  who used to be a construction foreman and a "face" former miner whose stage name is "Saw Boss".  Fighters are somewhat flashy and use gimmicks.  Payed to view kayfabe grudge matches aren't uncommon on the Old Mars Colony and neither are bootlegged pirate recordings of those matches amongst spectators since the Corrupt Old Mars media conglomerate tries to milk the cash cow of "official matches" by charging exorbitant ticket fees to attend said events.

Fighters do give charity matches in the form of non-televised "Dark Matches" though for causes they personally care about. For example Billy the Heel though fighting dirty, on the advice of his publicist supports universal access to computers for children and Saw Boss is known to support an orphanage from the area of the Colony which he grew up in.
