Although utility vehicles like the Bantam are widespread among police and paramilitaries, they are effectively worthless in confrontations with even the smallest Mecha. After the First Galactic War, several new varieties of anti-mech light tank were put into production, in order to counter this threat. The only model to persist into the modern era is known as the Champion.
Weighing 30 tons, Champions rely on unusually dense armor plating; even modest upgrades will grant protection equivalent to a fully shielded Mecha. Brand-new Champions sport a turret with two Small Cannons. Experienced crews typically swap these out for Collido Lasers, or add side sponsons with additional Small Cannons and -- in Cogwerk space -- Small Mordem launchers. Finally, relatively advanced fire-control systems allow the crew to identify vulnerable points on a target, and even to fire upon two targets at once.
