Why I Hate 100 Ton Equipment By Pat Willis#224534

Hello all, I was asked not that long ago by a clan mate why it is I hate on 100 ton equipment so much. Well to answer that question we have to do some math and look at what is in the offering for the equipment weight range. I'll keep this as quick and dirty as possible, and by no means should the information offered here be in any way construed as a smart way to build a mecha.

In my opinion the offerings on hand are abysmal especially when you are trying to run a decent speed on a mecha to get it going in a fight, and every other equipment piece has negative speed penalties. Not saying they should run in the 70s or anything. Just they start off at what negative 25 or so usually (Average build speed upon purchase)?

Okay say 5-7 engine slots with available equip at roughly 5-8 speed per piece, so lets say 5 speed at 7 slots going for broke. 35 speed which is actually +10 if you factor in the negative of the build at level 0. Now take say 7 cockpit slots use synaptic boost across all slots. They each have a penalty of -3 speed so times 7 slots you get -21 to speed. Now take your original +10 after engines combined with the -21 and you get -11 over all.

Yeah I know speed with levels but come on you do all that just basic equip how much are you gonna eek out of levels? I got a Typhoon at current level of 110 and he is at a +7 speed. So even better illustration of the point. Bad way to build of course but if you were strapped on niodes and went all in on crystal equipment, I'd bet you would see similar results.

Mind you that is just using standard crystal equipment parts, although the Niode variants aren't much better and that is surprising given the Niode gear is designed to have the edge over crystal. After all are we not in most cases paying out real world cash for niodes? So even paying in doesn't help this fiasco.

So yet again we call to the Devs to fix this issue or stop making us pay full price for equipment that you know as well as we do sucks. Things like this are going to quickly turn away the player base. After all who wants a shiny new 100 ton mecha that all it does is sit there and get blown the hell up?
