The Dreadnaught. The name alone strikes fear in the
hearts of pilots. A speed demon, capable of hitting you square between the eyes
before you can even think to dodge. There is much to be said for using a
Dreadnaught in your line-up, and I would be willing to bet that it's use is
likely among the most common for more experienced pilots. But what sort of use
can a fast mech have? What roles can these mechs fill for your team?
I'm glad you asked! The Dreadnaught is among the most
versatile mechs in the game. Most often built as a projectile specialist, with
its high charged railgun technology this mech can pierce your core in a flash
of light. Obviously, a strong build for this set up is to equip towards large
damage multipliers. The high speed allows for a constant barrage of powerful
projectiles.
However, another option, follows along the lines of a
smaller mech, the Smilodon. The Smilodon can fill many roles as well, but one
of my favorites is as lightning quick fire-starter, and that is something that
Dreadnaught can be built for as well. Through the use of image stabilizers,
this mech can burn a hole through any line and keep on melting away. With the
image stabilizers boosting projectile damage as well, it could be used as a
hybrid mech, piercing and burning to your hearts content.
My last offering (can't give away too many secrets)
would be as a freeze mech. In the vein of the larger Boreas, this mech is fast
enough to use freeze heavily to its advantage. Being frozen by this mech may be
all she wrote for any type of mech your opponent might field. The ability to
get a second shot off in the time that it takes for your enemy to thaw is
essential for mechs that are used to freeze.
With these ideas in mind, I am sure you all will be
able to come up with your own configurations to put this marvelous speedster to
its most fulfilling use. If you don't have one, I suggest getting one in your
lines as soon as possible, or it might just get you first!
