Wheee! Who doesn’t love a new popgun, and his is a nice
little bit of kit. Let’s pull up the trade brochure stats and see what we get
and for how much.
Book price is 480 Ferrite, 380 Bioptics and 31 Niodes.
Yes, you always pay a bit more in Niodes for limited edition weapons, and as of
writing there are 276 left for grabs for folks level 20 and over.
For that outlay, you get a projectile weapon that does 54
damage, has a speed rating of 104 and can do trample bonus damage of 4% and a
7% change of doubling the carnage.
Let’s try a few comparisons. First off, what is available
around that level? Crystal wise there is the Dynamo. 19 damage and a fraction
slower than the Peppergun. Or there’s the good old trusty Panther Wheel. No
chance of beating it in a quick draw contest, and the Panther has an impressive
10% trample but no other bonus. The thing is with the Panther only outputting
25 damage, the 4% that the Peppergun does is actually comparable in straight
damage applied to its secondary target and does far more to the primary. And
that’s if the 2 X bonus doesn’t go off. So down at that level, the Peppergun is
coming out on top.
Comparing it to straight crystal kit, it comes in at
around the same level as Wrecker Shots and Hex Cannon with comparable speed,
damage and trample. You know, stuff that are still the mainstay cannons of the
top divisions. But it’s available 40 levels earlier.
Nice kit, last you a lifetime. It’s a good investment in
my books if you can afford the price tag.
