CW3323 Post-War Interview With Mortem Orbisque #907239 By John Ringo #899287

GG: Welcome Mortem to The Galaxy Gathering studio. Can I offer you a drink from the wet bar before we get started?

Mortem: Thank you good sir. A double bourbon would hit the spot just fine.

GG: *Pours a large glass and slides it over to Mortem*

GG: For the record what is your name, player ID, clan you fought with this last CW and what medal did you win?

Mortem: Mortem Orbisque #907239 CLAN: Emerald Dragons. We added a big shiny gold medal to the trophy case this time around.

GG: Grats on the Gold win.

GG: Did your team perform like you expected this war?

Mortem: For the most part we went to war like a well-oiled machine. There were a few hiccups in the gold round but we managed to overcome them for victory.

GG: Was there anything you found to be a surprise this war?

Mortem: The biggest surprise for me this war was how much the dynamics shifted because of the speed boost to missiles. I really think that it allowed those pilots who changed the load outs of their formation to take advantage of the extra speed to really shine.

GG: Was there anything you found to be a disappointment this war?

Mortem: I will have a better gauge on that one after the raid is done and I see what loot was had.

GG: This war every clan needed a SRB specialist to get in the game. We have had a required spec now for the last two wars. Do you feel this requirement improves or takes away from Clan Wars?

Mortem: It's really both at the same time. On one hand, it takes away a little bit of tactical flexibility which I think takes away from the joy that is clan wars but the extra loot to be had for choosing the required spec can be a great thing.

GG: The pilots who ran the required SRB spec this war earned (2) 2X upgrade kits. Does this extra prizing improve Clan Wars and should be continued?

Mortem: Honestly it was a bit of a letdown seeing free upgrade kits as the special prize this war considering that last war with the 20 ton requirement the extra prize was a mech and a piece of equipment. I would love to see the extra prizes continue as long as there are forced specs but I would really like to see them turn into something more substantial than just free upgrade kits.

GG: How hard was the Raid for your team?

Mortem: Overall it's been pretty good. There have been tough spots for sure but most of it so far has felt fairly well matched.

GG: Are the Raid Prizes this war useful for your team or do you just sell most of it for needed Niodes?

Mortem: This time around the prizes look very useful. I for one would not complain if I am so lucky to bring home a shiny new Torrent or Magnus.

GG: Best of luck to you on that.

GG: What is your favorite mech that you own and why?

Mortem: I would have to say my Skriag. I like it for how versatile it is. decent speed and other stats out of the box for its weight class and plenty of equipment slots. I think it is the most well rounded mech in my collection.

GG: What is your favorite thing about Clan Wars?

Mortem: I love the tactics of it. Between the optimizing formations and the careful studying of opponents to find the optimal way to place a surgical strike it offers so much more value than just the titanic slug fest that it may appear to be.

GG: In your opinion, what needs to be fixed to make Clan Wars better?

Mortem: I am not sure if this would be considered a fix or an adjustment but two things I would like to see would be more 4 clan divisions to help spread things out and a rework of the prize tier system. It would be great if there were more than 4 tiers of prizes so that it was more applicable to the level average and the needs of more players.

GG: Yes, you would not be the first pilot to raise this issue. Something for Nick and team to think about.

GG: Before we wrap this up is there anything you would like to add?

Mortem: May the RNG bless our raid loot and I will be seeing you again next war.

GG: Thanks for taking the time to stop by and talking with me. It has been a pleasure. My best to you and your crew and yes please let us do this again next war.
