Frank: Umm thank you but no, still recovering from our silver celebration.

GG: I can respect that *Smiles*

GG: For the record what is your name, player ID, clan you fought with this last CW and what medal did you win?

Frank: I am Frank Stechman #52792, I was once again with my AFF friends. We took a a silver this time.

GG: Did your team perform like you expected this war?

Frank: It exceeded my expectation. First 2 battles were not as hard as I feared and even the gold battle was not an annihilation.

Frank: The HF Pirates in round one gave a valiant effort and I salute them for their courage and tenacity, In round 2 it appears the Bunnies had some type of internal communication malfunction and were not at all what I have seen in the past.

GG: So, it sounds like you had more than a few surprises this war then.

GG: Was there anything you found to be a disappointment this war?

Frank: Truth be said I had more fun in this war than in several of past wars.  Rewards were nice and everybody seemed to have fun testing their mettle against other mechs doing the same.

GG: Ok sounds like it was a solid win-win all around then *Smiles*

GG: This war every clan needed a SRB specialist to get in the game. We have had a required spec now for the last two wars. Do you feel this requirement improves or takes away from Clan Wars?

Frank: I kinda love it.  Let me expound on that. This galaxy has many terrains that need to be both guarded or conquered. To master that every team must have many specialized units to accomplish that goal. In the past, some have made the decision to ignore those needs and concentrated on a single one or two tonnages. What is happening now is that those that sought to be dominant in just one class are being left behind by the recent technology advancements in multiple weight classes. In short everybody needs to be a jack of all trades if they want to survive.  *Smile*

GG: "Evolve or Die" is one of my favorite motto's.

GG: The pilots who ran the required SRB spec this war earned (2) 2X upgrade kits. Does this extra prizing improve Clan Wars and should be continued?

Frank: I like the 2x prize, is like 6 niodes  in my pocket to raise those prizes I just won. Every little bit help when try in grow your mechs.

GG: I can never have to many niodes myself.

GG: How hard was the Raid for your team?

Frank: WELL, that remains to be seen since do to some personal logistical problems we just started it a couple hours ago. So far it seems like a pretty standard raid. Some weak walls some walls that take a few tries on. Just hoping the prizes are worth the time. Last one was a total bust for me personally.

GG: Well I wish you the best on your prize rolls.

GG: Are the Raid Prizes this war useful for your team or do you just sell most of it for needed Niodes?

Frank: That depends on the individual and what you get, sometimes sell most as trash that you will never use.  other times, shebang, immediately added to leveling or weps or eqpt.

GG: What is your favorite mech that you own and why?

Frank: HA. what a question. M personal favorites are the Inferno because that is what long, long ago took me from starving to being able to ship out and conduct some decent battles and the overlooked red ant, it was my first love as soon as I sat in the seat and went wow.  Both need to be updated to current level standards as they are so far behind the curve as to being noncombatants.

GG: I would strongly agree that all mechs need to keep getting updated to keep up with the explosive level growth in D1.

GG: What is your favorite thing about Clan Wars?

Frank: Team/Clan play. It is one thing to play on your own and destroy everything in front of you, is an entirely different thing to be in a group and have depend on others achieve rewards. The need for communication and knowledge sharing makes CW so much better than any KOTM.

GG: In your opinion, what needs to be fixed to make Clan Wars better?

Frank: Just off the top of my head, is long past time for a FW. Also, *Evil Grin* how about (not faction) but alliance wars?  Must have been in that alliance for 6 months, so there will be no hired guns. CW  wins for entire alliance count for victory  i.e.  all bunny all HF  all AFF  ect ect  something to think on.

GG: That could be interesting for sure.

GG: What medal did your team win this war Bob?

Bob: D2 silver this time out...(MMI) is a tough bunch *Smile*

GG: Did your team perform like you expected this war?

Bob: Mostly....the added missile speed made some strange fights here and there but we beat who we expected lost same...no huge surprises.

GG: Was there anything you found to be a disappointment this war?

Bob: hmmm.... not really...other then you always hope for more D points...that seems more fun sometimes then attack wins.

GG: Yeah, I savor every D Win myself *Grin*

GG: This war every clan needed a SRB specialist to get in the game. We have had a required spec now for the last two wars. Do you feel this requirement improves or takes away from Clan Wars?

Bob: this time SRB was easier than last month’s 20t since most have it, but sure having to have a certain specialist is kind of a pain but also keeps things fresh, I'd like to see for example next SW be every member must be a different specialist...will make things even more interesting… of course there will be complainers... *Smile*

GG: The logistics needed for that style of war makes my head hurt a touch *Grin*

Bob: We always want MOAR...lol but sure, if you are going to be your clans Specialist in the required specialty sure a little something extra is nice.

GG: How hard was the Raid for your team?

Bob: oOe of our members had health issue with his father so we held off till about an hour ago... I set the cap at 1 share and blew through it in like 5 minutes... I'll wait for rest of members to reach that then raise again... But normally at these higher levels you have enough firepower to blow right through them.

GG: Please pass on my best wishes on the recovery of your teammates father.

GG: I guess someday I will level enough to experience what it feels like to just blow through a raid share. For now, I will just have to take your word on it *Smiles*

GG: Are the Raid Prizes this war useful for your team or do you just sell most of it for needed Niodes?

Bob: Oh no plenty of goodies in the raid the % on some not as good as we'd like but hey you roll the dice hope for the best... My rule on anything is only keep it if you're going to use it... *Smile*

GG: Otherwise your hanger can get very crowded for sure.

GG: What is your favorite mech that you own and why?

Bob: Regis was for a very long time... But past few months as I've tweaked my Boreas... They are my fav's.... Because they kick arse..... But the more variety of niode equipment I've gathered for my 100t niode mechas... Has got me liking the Humbaba... But that's another story *Smile*

GG: Those are all mechs I can only dream about piloting at this point in my career. I can't wait to try them someday *Smiles*

GG: What is your favorite thing about Clan Wars?

Bob: The team work and communication between clanmates... sharing of intel is always fun... also the trying to outdo each other and teasing makes it fun. "You lost to him??" lol is always fun *Smile*

GG: I love the friendship and joking in clan chats myself *Smile*

GG: In your opinion, what needs to be fixed to make Clan Wars better?

Bob: Power rankings would be a nice twist, and in medal counts to a players level to figure clans division placement... that would be a nice twist... also should help the newer players, not all the time but maybe once just to try it out... 4 golds add 1 level to your average 8 silvers add level that type of thing... power rankings... let the complaints flow.

GG: Sure, I know there has been lots of talk on the player's page on this topic. I do not envy Nick and the team trying to figure out how best to balance things like this.

GG: Before we wrap this up is there anything you would like to add?

Bob: I'd like to see a one time thing where everyone has to sign up to enter. It would be like SW only thing is by signing up you agree to be placed in a random 5 person squad auto picked by levels and divisions, leader would also be random no specialist... maybe since that would be interesting enough without them... some would complain about this because of course something different... but you don't have to do it...just something different.

Bob: Keeping things fresh...not all things will fly but not a reason to not try them.

GG: That would defiantly be an interesting kind of war.

1GoML: I enjoy unlimited, I like using all of my toys. Nothing makes me happier than watching higher level players bounce off my unlimited.

1GoML: I am because it helps keep the playing field even. Plus, single rainbow imo is one of the best specialist to have.

1GoML: I didn't know he did, I hope so that sounds pretty cool.

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

1GoML: As of now 75 ton. I pawned off my dilophos and sever for equipment in my unlimited. Lol.

GG: You must do what you have to do in order to get the job done sometimes *Smile*

GG: This war missiles are getting a +50 Speed boost. Are you excited about this and will this change how you set up your formations?

1GoML: It will change my set up a little bit. I'm just curious how it works out for everyone. Personally, this frees up my ghost slot for other mechas. Usually I have missiles in the ghost slot.

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

1GoML: Phoenix these days. A while back it was 1stK/Ruby/Macleods.

GG: What clan do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

1GoML: Armored Core, they don't try AT ALL. I'm surprised BCDC doesn't do anything about it. I guess they figure they have no chance of winning so why bother.

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

1GoML: Not really, outside of being an extreme camper which most people cry about how unfair it is. My mini account is level 17 and 4 years old *Wink*

GG: What are you most looking forward to this war?

Bob: Seeing if we can score more points against The Isle of Misfit Toy's (MMI), they won D2 gold last time and we were the new kids on the block and lowest in division but still earned silver, doubt that will change anytime soon, but want to see if increasing our average a little brings us more offence.

GG: The joys of clan leadership. Learning what you can from the last fight and adjusting from there to get a better outcome. I wish you the best in your quest.

GG: There are 4 specialists this war. Do you enjoy running a specialist formation or do you enjoy fighting as an unlimited more?

Bob: Last CW I was 1200t and did quite well not only did I receive D points all 3 rounds but I used it against others mains last 2 rounds and beat almost half of 1 clan and over half the other...so a tighter better force was nice, and considering the level difference I was very impressed, I do always try to keep all my formations current as to be able to attack where and when needed, but this CW I'm going unlimited as thought it would be nice to let some of the others have the fun 🙂

Bob: I'd love to see something different for next Squad Wars, 5 member squads all specialist all has to be different...it will show the true commitment to the game for all involved...  😈

GG: I see your Mother taught you the value of sharing. *Smile*

GG: Yes, a five member squad and everyone has to have a different spec would be a tough test of a lot of groups for sure.

GG: This war every clan must have an SRB specialist to enter. Are you a fan of a clan being required to have a specialist just to enter the war?

Bob: I have mixed feelings about it to be honest, Rainbows are simple so no biggie, but 20T could be tougher for some players, so either way if you're prepared no big deal but if you’re not can catch you off guard. I neither hate or love it.

GG: Do you think Nick will give a bonus prize to the SRB specialists this war like he did for the 20T guys last war?

Bob: hmmm...didn't think about that...not sure what it could be..a 1 legged mecha?? lol   but would be nice to get something extra...we all want MOAR!!

GG: And the MOAR crowd goes wild!

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Bob: the ones that require not weight like 30T for example but the ones that require a certain mechas like iMech KOTM, as far as in CW's...rather not give out which ones I rather not face.. wouldn't want the enemies to know which ones to pick 😈 that is classified information.

GG: Fair enough we will never push for Classified Info *Smile*

Bob: Yes on both parts...I went through all my formations added more missiles and missile shielding...this will make the prepared look beastly against the ones that failed to plan...as old saying goes if you fail to plan you plan to fail...I expect to see lots of these...I mean if some players can't even be bothered to make sure they have HG...why should we expect them to be ready for this new twist.

GG: Ah yes, the lack of HG. I see that way more often then I should.

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

Bob: Currently (MMI) they are the gold standard in D2 so nice to see where our troops measure up against theirs.

GG: What clan do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Bob: Could say same clan...as we know at this time they are out of our league power wise...

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

Bob: I guess thing I’m most proud of is the {AFF}, we've been here plugging away for over 4yrs, sometimes we were the underdogs other times we were the favored, but the loyalty of our guys even in the down times has remained, other groups have risen and fell since begging of this game but we remain...we may not be the most feared...or even respected in the game but we are here to support the game and our friends, and at the end of the day it's a game to be played for fun if you're here for any other reason...why? Let's treat each other as friendly rivals and have some fun, Peace out 🙂

Mortem: Aside from the ever-present desire for more and better raid loot I am most looking forward to the potential of giving Renegades the gift of a silver medal like they so graciously like they did for us last war.

GG: You are such a re-gifter lol.

GG: There are 4 specialists this war. Do you enjoy running a specialist formation or do you enjoy fighting as an unlimited more?

Mortem: I enjoy the tactical application of being a specialist. It can be a great way of getting that extra little bit of toughness that wins the war. I will admit that I do enjoy the occasional unlimited slug fest though.

GG: This war every clan must have an SRB specialist to enter. Are you a fan of a clan being required to have a specialist just to enter the war?

Mortem: I am not a huge fan of forced specs but as long as there are reasonable extra payouts for those that adopt the required formation I think it could work out.

GG: So, based on your last answer you would be in favor of Nick giving a bonus prize to the SRB specialists this war like he did for the 20T guys last war?

Mortem: Yes indeed my good man. That was a happy little extra that took an annoying situation and made it tolerable. I think that it is only fair to offer some form of bonus compensation whenever something like this is done that limits a clans tactical options.

GG: Well only time will tell if Nick agrees with you. *Smile*

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Mortem: Oddly enough, I dislike rainbows as a whole and SRB's in particular. I think it is a lingering dislike from before the devs changed the way the rewards were structured from niode purchases and a new pilot could drop 5 bills and become god in the lower and middle divisions on the power of a bought and paid for SRB.

GG: Yeah spenders... needed to keep the game around and hated by all the free players *Smile*

Mortem: I am interested in what will happen with this, especially if adjustments like this become a standard variable for CW. as far as my formations go I will not be making any changes, just sitting back and smiling as my spitfires hopefully become monsters.

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

Mortem: I really have enjoyed fighting Red Alert and their recent replacement Renegades. They have been the most fun and challenging clans to fight in our division for a long time now.  If we didn't have an arch nemesis like them CW could get boring after a while.

GG: What clan do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Mortem: Pretty much any clan that gives up and plays dead before the first shot is fired.

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

Mortem: I am proud of how far I have been able to make it in this galaxy with all of the logistical and supply issues I have faced along the way. I believe that we spoke about some of those challenges last time I dropped by your office.

GG: What are you most looking forward to this war?

Joshua: From this War, I'm most looking forward to the potential competition from our Division.

Joshua: Personally, I love running Specialist formations purely because I am a Free to Play player. It allows me to allocate my resources a lot more effectively.

Joshua: It means players need to be more prepared for what the upcoming fights so personally, I love it.

Joshua: I doubt it as there is no specific prize he could give that would be good for every SRB player out there.

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Joshua: Personally, I hate fighting against 10 Ton Specs as it's just a massive RNG fight.

GG: This war missiles are getting a +50 Speed boost. Are you excited about this and will this change how you set up your formations?

Joshua: I won't make any changes to my lineup because of a temp buff, but it will make Missiles a lot more powerful. Too powerful even.

GG: It will be interesting to see how this war shapes up for sure.

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

Joshua: I don't really have a particular favorite to fight, though if I was to choose, it would just have to be a clan that fights back rather than gives in to the odds.

GG: Yes, that has been a common theme in this wars interviews.

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

Joshua: It would probably have to be leading a Squad in one of the recent Squad Wars to victory in the Tier I prize pool.

GG: For the record, what is your name, ID number and the clan you are fighting with in this war?

Rod: Thanks for the scotch John.  My name is Rod Skilton, Mech Pilot ID  899155 and I'm a regular with SteamPunk Dragons. This war we are camouflaged as Xeon units to get closer to the enemy.

GG: What are you most looking forward to this war?

Rod: I'm looking forward to locking on a few missiles with the other clans. These new missile specifications will certainly mix things up a bit. I think we'll see a lot more missile based Mechs trying to make good use of the extra speed.

GG: Yes, I think most pilots are having the same thoughts Rod. Only time will tell on that one.

GG: There are 4 specialists this war. Do you enjoy running a specialist formation or do you enjoy fighting as an unlimited more?

Rod: The specialists are a game changer and I think that any clan not running them isn't being strategic. Personally, I run a single rainbow and it gives me great scope for setting out my lines, weapon configurations, and equipment load outs. I've always steered clear of the 20 ton spec. In my early days, I struggled against them. The Axebot is an absolute crushing machine and I never had enough of them to field a competitive line up. They all provide a good challenge though and the Clan Wars are better for them.  Having said that though, there's nothing like a good stand up grunt-fest of an unlimited fight.

GG: A man who likes it both ways. Good for you Rod *Smile*

GG: This war every clan must have an SRB specialist to enter. Are you a fan of a clan being required to have a specialist just to enter the war?

Rod: Ha Ha Ha, you're a funny man John.

Rod: I'm a fan of having specialists so having a mandatory one is fine by me. It brings a nice flavor to the fight. For the lower level clans, I can see this having a greater impact, and in some cases difficulty, on their ability to field specific specialists. Last Clan War it was 20 ton specs, this Clan War it's single rainbow. Taking on different roles and trying new things helps make the Clan War rivalries stronger and pilots can be more creative in their approach to the fight.

*downs his scotch* Looks like my glass is empty John. I'll have another thanks. *smiles and mumbles - both ways...ha ha*

GG: Required Specs can also have a large impact in the mid divisions. There are more than a few players who do not make many spec formations and could find themselves leaving lots of points left they could have scored or worse yet rush to build the needed spec and find it is not that strong and give up points.

GG: Do you think Nick will give a bonus prize to the SRB specialists this war like he did for the 20T guys last war?

Rod: That's what I mean about being strategic with specialists. Clans that have ignored them in the past are always setting themselves up for losing valuable, and sometimes, easy points. I do get it that some clans believe that unlimited is the best way to go and you gotta respect that too, but in my opinion they are setting themselves up to fail. Clan Wars aren't a slug-fest anymore. There's an art to war and those that practice that art will more often than not, come out on top. I'm hoping for a nice reward for the SRB specialists this Clan War. Mainly because that's the spec I'm running... hahahahaha

Rod: It would have to be the damn 20 Ton spec. In my early days, I would try my hand at beating them, but would always get wiped. Those Axebots pack a hefty punch and I've never gone down that path as a specialist. I still avoid them to this day. It's one of those maxims, if you can't beat them, stay the hell away.. hahahaha.

GG: This war missiles are getting a +50 Speed boost. Are you excited about this and will this change how you set up your formations?

Rod: Hell yeah! CronoPower's put some blistering pace into the missiles. I like seeing these kind of advancements 'cause they make a massive difference. You can't just sit back and rely on the same formation and load out. It makes pilots sharper and more aware of what they've got under the hood and that leads to better battles and better pilots.

Rod: I'm pretty excited about the boosts, and I've already made changes to my formations. It's already paid some good dividends too. Like just this morning I picked up the Div 7 KOTM Missile Command Gold medal and I put down to the speed boost and the formation changes I made.

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

Rod: Thanks *drinks half the glass*

Rod: Over the last few Clan Wars I'm liking Thunderbird {BHG} more and more. They're a good challenge for me at my level and I'm not guaranteed a win at all. Their pilots put up a good fight and that's always going to make it more enjoyable.

GG: What clan do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Rod: Any clan that doesn't have a go. When I was leading the Black Sheep SQN for the HF, I'd push everyone that was active to put rounds down the range during the Clan War, even if there was no chance of us beating the opposition. It's the best time to test out your weapon and equipment load outs, as well as your formations. It's the best time to see what you are actually capable of. I remember times when I was afraid to hit anyone in a level above me. But once you get over that fear and push hard, you really start to understand your true capabilities.

GG: Very good advice for our readers.

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

Rod: There's a lot of good things I've enjoyed; from KOTM golds, leading the Black Sheep SQN, joining the Dragons, getting the MG T-Shirt, and drinking good scotch with you. *empties his glass again* However, the thing I'm most proud of is the mates I've made all around the galaxy. There are some wonderful people in this galaxy. Some are rivals and some are clan mates. But I'm proud to know them all. *laughs* Damn scotch is making me all sentimental.

GG: What are you most looking forward to this war?

GJ: I intend to do some stress tests for my squad, in the face of an eventual confrontation with Xeon. I will use the tournament to check those marvelous missile boosts developed by ChronoPower and that mad dude of Harlan.

GG: Yes, the +50 speed boost to Missiles this war should be interesting for sure.

GG: There are 4 specialists this war. Do you enjoy running a specialist formation or do you enjoy fighting as an unlimited more?

GJ: Scott, our CO, has the common sense of not waste a spec on one of his most powerful crew pilots. *grins*

GJ: But, answering about my preferences, I like the relax of an unlimited force. You need less maneuvers to avoid get caught by enemy stalkers.

GG: Yes, your unlimited formation has grown powerful over the last 8-10 wars. I can see why Scott would chose to keep you in that role. Yes, I do hear you on the spec snipers. If you can catch someone out of formation you feel great but if you are the one caught then life sucks *Grin*

GG: This war every clan must have an SRB specialist to enter. Are you a fan of a clan being required to have a specialist just to enter the war?

GJ: I like that the game organizers use the tournaments to refine those strategies that the enemy could demand, as we have seen that has happened repeatedly in the past. General Nova is not a fool.

GJ: On a personal basis, I find every opportunity for improvement to be stimulating.

GG: I like to see a pilot who loves looking for ways to improve. Good for you!

GG: Do you think Nick will give a bonus prize to the SRB specialists this war like he did for the 20T guys last war?

GJ: I ignore it. But I think that would not be a bad idea. Those little gestures of generosity always generate good press for Craftsmen and encourage rookie and veteran pilots to take care of and perfect their specs.

GG: Well if he does give those extra prizes out I am sure those who win them will not be sad.

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

GJ: None. There is only one spec that I have not ready yet (and that I am upgrading), but if my opponent is running it, I will simply do not attack.

GJ: However, a spec that I will always avoid is ... Hey, let the others use their brains to realize which are the best specs for each case, do not you think?

GG: Grats on having almost every spec formation built. That is impressive! Yes, I am personally all for more player choice and letting them think for themselves *Smile*

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

GJ: I enjoy when the opponent has a strength comparable to ours and with a defined strategy that allows him to measure us.

GJ: Uncertainty and danger are an excellent stimulus for further improvement. Right now, the only one clan that could attempt to do it, ran out from our current division.

GG: Well there is a few days left before final clan lock so maybe things will change and you will find them back in your division when the dust settles.

GG: What clan do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

GJ: Another Dragon clan. When that happens, it is because the Craftsmen made unforeseen changes in the distribution of the divisions, which escaped to the control of any possible planning. It is not a pleasant situation, because we are not only in the spotlight of the bitterest criticism, but by force, one of the two will not be able to taste the triumph of his hard work and preparation.

GG: I have found myself in that situation over the years and yes, it is not very fun to have to fight your fellows.

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

GJ: The virtues one can acquire are as many as defects and vices in case of abandoning to the darker aspects of this life (and this game).

GJ: Over time, you can learn to relativize things and set aside concerns to begin to take care of the issues that require your attention. You will save energy and avoid stress.

GJ: Anger does not lead to anything positive, nor does it help you to fight better. Stay calm and you will be a more effective and dangerous warrior for your opponent.

GJ: Be patient. Excellence does not fall from the sky as if Zeon made a colony drop. Work hard and the profit will come with time in many different ways and forms.

GJ: Be gentle and cordial with everyone: with friends and with enemies ... If you have destroyed the mech of your opponent, take the time to favor his rescue. You would want them to do the same for you, right?

GJ: Each step in life holds a lesson from which to learn ... Stay focused!

GG: Those are very good words for playing the game and in our personal lives.

GG: Is there anything else you would like to add or a shout out to a friend or foe you would like to give?

GJ: A message to the rookie pilots: Despite how hard you may see the possibility to reach the top divisions and the excellence as a Mech Pilot... Never discourage and keep working hard and with patience towards your goals. All of them are achievable, no matter how absurdly hard they may look.

Scott: Seeing the BHG/AFF/BS alliance to try to win against Dragons.

GG: Oh really? What are you seeing happen in your crystal ball if that is not giving away any secrets?

Scott: Phoenix/Thunderbird/BS Bandits/BS Rising sun.  I think the Russians are in on it too!  Those damn bastards always poking their heads in places where they aren't wanted.

GG: Ah so you are seeing a mixing of players from those clans this war. Watch out for those Russians!  It will be interesting to see if this is a long-term alliance or a one off for this war.

Scott: I like the added angle it brings to wars.  It aggravates me when clan mates leave easy points on the table when they aren't prepared for spec fights.

GG: Yeah in the Gold round that can be the difference from wining vs loosing.

GG: This war every clan must have an SRB specialist to enter. Are you a fan of a clan being required to have a specialist just to enter the war?

Scott: Yes.  It adds a level of difficultly and forces you to use a spec that you may not always use.

GG: Yeah it mixes things up that is for sure. If you are a clan that does not normally run specs this can throw a wrench in the works for sure.

GG: Do you think Nick will give a bonus prize to the SRB specialists this war like he did for the 20T guys last war?

Scott: With Nick, speculation leads to rabbit holes.  I think that is why he does half of what he does is to keep us speculating.

GG: Yeah sometimes it feels like you have a better chance of a Magic 8 Ball giving you a straight answer then trying to figure out what Nick is going to do next *Smile*

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Scott: Ants. No matter the level it's a coin flip at best most of the time.

Scott: Clans that don't put up a fight because they think they don't have a chance or fight sloppily.

Frank: I am Frank Stechman, #52792 proud member of AFF this battle with the MG Defenders.  just pointing out we all are mercs for sale to the highest bidder but I have a lot of loyalty to those that helped me learn the biz.

GG: What are you most looking forward to this war?

Frank: This is going to be a new challenge for me. I have been bumped up to Div 2.  Will be fun seeing how I do with the big boys. Our specs have not been made public yet so sorry if you want that info you are going to have to wait like everybody else.

Frank: Just a heads up the speed increase on missiles from the hard-working teams has pretty much have everybody scrambling to see what to do with their formation.

Frank: Personally I nearly wet myself when I saw the reports of how much better the missiles are now...  ermm  maybe this scotch needs a refill if you want any more thoughts.

GG: I will never ask anyone to give up clan secrets. You are free to answer as much as you are comfortable with. *Pours another round and slides a glass across the desk to Frank*

GG: Grats on your first war in D2. I hope it is everything you wish for.

Frank: I like that question Johnny.  The only way I am competitive is if I utilize specialties, I have been working them for a long time some are good, some ok, but at the very least I can get out of the battle with enough mechs moving to sell off the salvage and repair and rebuild for the next time..  I learn and earn just bit every fight 🙂

Frank: 40 ton without a doubt. to many gold winners, end of story.

Frank: Already done what I could soon as I saw that, is a game breaker for many formations.  The only drawback to missile mechs is their speed, will be some wild and crazy battles.

Frank: Just looking forward to this CW, have heard through the grapevine that some not bother with them because they level to fast. IMHO just get in there and battle there should be some serious negative effects for those that want to "camp".

Don: Don Davis, 398405, CLAN: Juggernaut

GG: What are you most looking forward to this war?

Don: I'm pretty excited about the Strangelove Clan War, LOL - I've been building missile capability behind my overall Fire specialty for almost a year now.  It'll be interesting to see how the damage and weapon hits change.

GG: Yeah, the +50 speed to missiles this war was an interesting announcement that Nick made yesterday. It will be interesting to see if these changes affect how people fight this war.

GG: There are 4 specialists this war. Do you enjoy running a specialist formation or do you enjoy fighting as an unlimited more?

Don: I'm happy either way, but I rarely get a chance to be one of the designated specs.

GG: Sounds like you might have to take that up with the boss and put your foot down *Wink*

GG: This war every clan must have an SRB specialist to enter. Are you a fan of a clan being required to have a specialist just to enter the war?

Don: I can't say that's my favorite requirement.  In a lot of cases, I can see where that would significantly undermine the basic purpose of specialists - which is primarily defensive.  A lot depends on the chosen spec.  Common specs aren't so bad, but I can see how that could get stupid really quick if something like a 25-ton spec was chosen, where you have some players with half a formation of Novums and others who haven't won a Novum in over two years.

GG: Yes, I can see how the more rare specs could be a larger disruption to the event like that.

GG: Do you think Nick will give a bonus prize to the SRB specialists this war like he did for the 20T guys last war?

Don: I have no idea, but it seems like a trend.

GG: If he does I am sure the MOAR crowd will not complain unless they were not a SRB spec and missed out on the free loot *Laughs*

GG: Which specialist formation do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Don: Well I'd say 25T for the very reason mentioned above.  People that have a significant advantage by sheer chance as opposed to skill, investment or diligence tend to prevail there.

GG: Point taken Don *Smile*

GG: This war missiles are getting a +50 Speed boost. Are you excited about this and will this change how you set up your formations?

Don: Of course, it prompts a change in formations.  To what extent and how to manage that is what makes some players more effective.  To me, that gets back into the essence of what is enjoyable about the game on the individual player level.  Clan Leader stuff, rosters and playing Field General is on a different level, but this causes me to go back in and reevaluate my formations in a way that helps alleviate the kind of stagnation that sets in once everybody *thinks* they know who they can and can't beat.  Shaking things up at that level is a good thing.

GG: Do you see this speed boost effecting how this war will go in D1?

Don: I don't think it will be enough of an effect to change final medal outcomes in Div 1.  I see no indication that this will favor one Clan vs. another in any measurable sense.  Where we will see some changes is maybe in some of the individual matchups and overall formation performance.

GG: I am sure the clan who watch you guys slug it out will find it interesting to see how this plays out.

GG: What clan do you most enjoy fighting against and why?

Don: It varies.  Of course, we most respect those that don't just throw in the towel.  As we've seen in the last two wars, the way the multipliers align and stack now, anything is possible.  The important thing is to take your best shot and try to apply what you've learned.  Otherwise, the prizes you get will certainly not be what makes the difference for you in any other war.  Some clans get beat, while others are defeated.  There's a difference...

GG: Very true words Don. Let's hope more pilots listen to this and find the courage to pick up that stone and throw it at the giant they are facing.

GG: What clan do you least enjoy fighting against and why?

Don: Well, I'm not gonna call anybody out.  What I said about not throwing in the towel applies.  If the shoe fits...

GG: Is there something in your career as a mech jockey you are proud about and would like to share?

Don: Well, being the first "Legendary Pilot" was a pretty cool thing, but what I'm most proud of is the success that Kris and I have had working together in the Dual-Clan Leader dynamic.  It's just one of those inexplicable things that just works.

GG: Yeah most of the time sharing the leadership role gets messy. You both did a good job though *Smile*
